Physical Description

Dagonites are four limbed forward knee-hinged amphibious homonids two prehensile arms.  Dagonites are descended from an ancient elder race that has since died out or evacuated the galaxy.

Dagonite have large flat heads that blend into the rest of their body with no discernible neck.  Large eyes bulge out of the skull above a wide mouth full of sharp teeth.  A small set of nose flaps open above the mouth with similar flaps behind the eyes that cover the ears, ahead of the gills that allow them to live underwater.

Dagonite have five digits on each hand with an opposable thumb and with thick webbing between them.  Feet are similarly webbed with long digits but no thumb.
Dagonite males and females are visually indistinct, with ovipositors used for both fertilization and impregnation.  Male Dagonites will fertilize eggs within the female who will then deposit her fertilized eggs into another host.  These hosts are often herd animals, or in cases where their colony world has sentient life, local life.  Young are born looking like the gestational mother, and will take their true appearance with time.

Dagonites will continue to grow throughout their life, quickly at first then slowly.  The exact maximum age of an individual is unknown, but it is theorized that they are virtually immortal if they do not die to violence or illness.

Dagonites are the last remnants of an ancient race that has since fled the galaxy.  They are often spoken of as the great jailers of the ancients, watching over the eternal prisons of immortal elder beings.  Dagonites could therefore be found throughout the Consign Spur, the known resting place of many dead elder beings, and as it seems several immortals.  Beyond that, not much is known.
It is known that following the Third Terran World War that the Dagonite Colony on Earth was destroyed.  This forced the remaining Dagonites to flee to their other colonies.  The Fledgling Galactic Federation hunted down the Dagonites as best they could, but the Dagonites are great at hiding.

The Dagonites eventually fled into Confederacy Space seeking asylum.  It was attacks on these Dagonite refuge convoys that helped to convince the Confederacy to declare war on the Galactic Federation.  Since coming into Confederacy Space and seeking protectorate status, the Dagonite have all but disappeared hiding out and biding their time.  Dagonite representatives do reappear once a decade to declare that they are still alive and implore the Confederacy to bring the war to an end before their imprisoned charges break free.  Whether or not this is true is unknown, or just an ingrained superstition.

Dagonite colonies are all grouped around the eldest Dagonite, these elder high priests keep the rest in line, but beyond that, little is known.  They have a fanatical devotion towards their elders and especially towards the notion that they must keep their immortal prisoners from escaping and wreaking havoc across the stars.

Major Religions/Philosophies

The Dagonites revere and pray to their high priests and those ancients whom they were the jailers to.

Kept just as secretive as the rest of their culture.

As of UCSB Census Date 1000:  Unknown, reported to be less than a million across all colony worlds.

Dagonites intentionally keep their population low for reasons of their own.

Psionicism- Most Dagonites display some level of Telepathic and Telekinetic ability that grows throughout their lives.  Some theorize that they may have multiple level 9 or 10 amongst them, but that has never been proven as no known Dagonite has ever admitted to being older than 300 annura.

No known sub-species.
